Instructions

  1. Step 1: Mix the tahini sauce ingredients until combined. The sauce should be loose enough to drizzle, but not too runny. Set aside for 15 minutes to let the flavours meld.

A spoon stirs pale tahini sauce in a glass bowl.

Ways to serve

  1. Step 2: Serve with Middle Eastern cooked proteins such as chicken shawarma, lamb shawarma, koftas, or meatballs, or use in wraps and sandwiches.

  2. Step 3: Drizzle over roasted vegetables such as carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, pumpkin, green beans, or asparagus.

  3. Step 4: Serve as a dip with pita bread, crisps, raw vegetable sticks, or Arayes.

Notes

Notes

  • Use hulled tahini; unhulled tahini is more bitter. Stir the tahini well if the oil has separated.

  • For a lemon substitute, use sherry vinegar, red or white wine vinegar, or apple cider vinegar.

  • Store the sauce in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Bring it to room temperature before using.
