- Skillet
Instructions
Step 1: Mix the meatball mixture until just combined.
Step 2: Roll 2 tablespoons of the mixture into each ball.
Step 3: Mix the cornflour with a splash of chicken stock, then add it to a skillet with all the remaining sauce ingredients.
Step 4: Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring regularly so it does not catch on the bottom. Gently add the meatballs.
Step 5: Cook the meatballs gently in the liquid for 7 minutes, turning them occasionally.

Step 6: If you are not serving the meatballs immediately, remove them from the sauce to stop them from cooking further.
Serving
Step 7: Stuff the meatballs into Banh Mi.
Step 8: Alternatively, garnish with freshly chopped red chilli, coriander, and shallots, and serve over rice with the sauce.
About this recipe
These Vietnamese pork meatballs are gently poached in a seasoned broth rather than pan-fried. Tuck them into Banh Mi or serve them over rice with the sauce.

Jicama adds texture to the meatballs. Apple, nashi pear, or white radish/daikon can be used in its place.
