Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
Beef Filling
Step 2: Heat the oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the garlic and onion and cook for 2 minutes, until golden.
Step 3: Add the beef and cook for 2 minutes, breaking it up as you go, until it changes from red to light brown.
Step 4: Add the taco seasonings and cook for 2 minutes, until the beef is cooked through.
Step 5: Add the tomato paste and water. Cook for 1 minute, or until the water has evaporated and the beef filling is juicy but not watery.
Bake (optional)
Step 6: Place the taco shells in a baking pan. Fill them with taco meat and top with cheese.

Step 7: Bake for 5 to 7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the shells are crispy.
Serve
Step 8: Serve the tacos hot, straight from the oven. Set out the toppings and sauces of your choice and let everyone assemble their own.
Notes
Warm the taco shells before serving. Bake taco shells until crisp; warm tortillas in the microwave for about 20 seconds, or wrap them in foil and bake for 5 to 10 minutes.
Lean beef is suggested. If using fatty beef, drain the excess fat before adding the seasoning. Chicken, turkey, or pork can also be used.
For the shredded cheese, use Monterey Jack, cheddar, tasty cheese, or pepper jack.
About this recipe
These beef tacos pair juicy ground beef seasoned with garlic, onion, cumin, paprika, and oregano with crispy taco shells and classic toppings.
For a melted-cheese finish, fill the shells with beef, add cheese, and bake them. You can also serve the toppings and sauces at the table for everyone to assemble their own tacos.

Top with shredded iceberg lettuce, chopped tomato and onion, sour cream, and taco sauce. Add other toppings such as coriander, jalapeño, hot sauce, pickled chillies, salsa, or pico de gallo if you like.
